For Tradesmen & Contractors
It’s not easy being a contractor or tradesman.
The hours are long, the work is physically demanding, and the job is thankless. You need to be a businessman, salesman, personnel manager, social worker, marriage counselor, and bail bondsman. You need to eat right and train like an athlete.
You need someone on your side, kicking you in the ass, asking the hard questions, and helping you become better at your job.
The secret is to develop systems. Systems help you assemble complicated tasks into easily managed processes. It takes years to develop systems (we’re never really done), but when the systems start to work, your job becomes easier.
Apprentices
If you are an apprentice learning a trade, your systems are about tools. Learn how to set them up, maintain them, pack them up, and load them in the truck.
Journeymen
If you are a journeyman, your systems are about the work. Learn how houses are framed, roofed, plumbed, wired, insulated, and finished.
Masters
If you are a master, your systems shape the work. Learn how to estimate jobs profitably and write good contracts as well as how to manage clients, employees, and subcontractors.
I break all of my systems down into specific drills. I teach contracting like it’s basketball. We practice, play a game, review the game, and practice some more. Wash, rinse, repeat.
I’m a minimalist. I focus on the basics. And I model my coaching style after John Wooden.
How it works
- Send me a request.
- I will diagnose the problem and provide an estimate via email.
- If you wish to accept my help, make a payment to Dumbass Contractors’ PayPal account for the amount quoted.
- My billing rate is $200/hour. That’s what I pay my coaches. A lot of questions can be answered with a video response for $40 or $50. I work with my coaches in half-hour time slots.
- Sit back, buckle up, and enjoy the ride.
